The old version of this page told of a father who staked his last 500 TL for his son's surgery and won. Here is why that story teaches the opposite of the truth, in numbers.
What this page used to say. An earlier version told of a father in Istanbul whose son needed surgery abroad costing 200,000 TL. With a few thousand lira left, he deposited his last 500 TL "thinking it was the end" and won enough to pay for the operation. It was written as an inspiring true story. It had no source, and it taught the single most dangerous idea in gambling: that the moment of greatest need is a reasonable moment to play. It has been removed.
The arithmetic does not care how much you need the money
